Zero G is a busy design agency with offices in central Brighton. When I started freelancing for them, doing graphic design, it didn’t take them long to find out I also did photography. I was asked to take some new portraits pictures of all their staff for use on the website and in communications.
Backdrop was a mural painted by a graffiti legend, Aroe.
After doing promo shots for John Watts’ band, Fisher Z, he then commissioned me to take some portraits for his own solo project, which he shares his name with.
Taken on 120mm and 35mm film.
Music is what really sparked my interest in photography. There are no boundaries for creativity when working with musicians. The unpredictability of shooting live shows forces you to think in a different way and it is always encouraging when you get good results.
Here are a selection photos of bands you may or may not have heard of before. I don’t know, I can’t hear anything anymore :)
Back when I used to help out with Galapagos Presents, I got a chance to meet and photograph one of my favourite bands – Why? – it was an honour to have caught some time with them.
…is nothing like people photography. Every single shot has to be considered down to the last millimetre. Every product is different from the one before and you never know what is going to become your next light modifier.
Here are some of the shots I have taken for the product catalogue and various product launch campaigns while working at Paxton.
Fischer Z made its name in the early 80s and maintained a cult following in the UK and a number of countries in mainland Europe since then. John Watts, the lead singer of the band, commissioned me to shoot his portrait for the upcoming release of their latest album.
Photos were used on the album artwork and also to create a music video for the album single.
This is an ongoing personal street photography series called Brighton Folk. It focuses on the things I see as I walk through this wonderful town.
